About Andoram

Every mountain range has its own name, its own language, its own myths. But climbers everywhere are chasing the same question: what’s beyond the next ridge?

Andoram takes its name from two of them — the Andes and the Karakoram — a continent apart, yet part of the same instinct. We report from wherever that instinct is strongest right now: the Baltoro glacier one month, a first ascent in Patagonia the next. One name for every summit, told from the ground, by the people closest to it.

Why the name

Andoram fuses two of Earth’s great mountain systems into a single word: the Andes, spine of South America, and the Karakoram, crown of Asia. Two ranges, two continents, one name — the idea that every great range on Earth is part of the same conversation.
